JobPad Install

An important point when installing and using Pocket PC (PPC) software installed by ActiveSync is that the installation starts on the PC/Laptop and, during the process, the files and installation are "jumped" via the USB connection through to the PPC.

The first step in installing the program is getting hold of the zip file from download, a contact or, from your own archive if this is a complete re-install. Place it on your PC/Laptop in your place of choice; the Desktop is usually the best selection but it is your choice. Make sure your PPC is connected and switched on. You can actually install without the PPC connected (or switched on) but it can be confusing and certainly a nuisance to do it in 2 stages with the PPC recieving its files and installation later - best avoided.

Note; if all you are doing is installing the handheld after a power drain (on earlier PPCs this did happen), you can use ActiveSync to re-install Timedex or any other previously ActiveSync installed program; this is a quicker option. You may find that a full installation will ask you to Remove or Repair Timedex. At worst, select the remove option and start again, but better, use the ActiveSync Menu | Tools | Add/Remove Programs to avoid this strange (and annoying) situation.

Getting Started using JobPad.zip Place the zip file in a convenient place on your PC/Laptop, double click it to see the the setup file setup JobPad (right). Your copy probably is version 2 (version 1 used in the screen shot).
Install Double click the icon shown and the installation will start. Remember that it is a 2 stage process and that when you get to the dialog with the tick box (right), press Finish.
On to the PPC From here you will need to keep ane on your PPCs screen - there may be selections to be made of where to store the program - choose "My Device" if asked.
